Most of the larger access control systems fall in this category and are run on a Windows based program that requires a non-dedicated computer to input data changes, and upload history files from the panels.

Most systems can use a dedicated computer that will allow you watch every transaction as it happens.  This is handy for guards to see if unauthorized individuals are trying to gain access to restricted areas.

When a non-dedicated computer is used, you will have to wait till the next time history reports are run to see any violations.
